Memberships renewed/processed July 1 and after, are good through September 30th of the next year.

Conference Planning - assists in planning VAASL's conferences (Annual Conference)
Conference Planning - assists in planning VAASL's conferences (Spring Regional Conference)
Standards and Guidelines - demonstrates how each AASL/AECT Information Literacy Standard correlates with Virginia's SOL and publicizes Standards for the 21st Century Learner to the profession, promotes implementation and strategies and correlations with learning objectives
Intellectual Freedom - monitors VAASL's intellectual freedom activities and offers guidance for specific library problems; recommends recipients for the SIRS Intellectual Freedom award
Legislative - monitors and makes recommendations for legislation affecting school libraries for the state and national legislatures; keeps members informed on matters of concern to libraries
Membership Development - promotes membership in VAASL, develops a statewide membership campaign, promotes active participation
Professional Development - plans and implements leadership activities such as the Summer Professional Development Conference, and other programs which develop professional growth and continuing education of members
Future Trends & Issues - gathers, organizes and shares information concerning the future trends and issues in the field of school library media
Scholarships & Awards selects recipients for awards after evaluating submitted nominations
Student Media Festival - promotes the festival and assists in the judging and display of student entries for the media festival
