2018 MOM
It's the smiles ~ not the miles ~ that make it a mission!
Thank you for volunteering for the WDA/WDAF 2018 Mission of Mercy.

Things to know:

Volunteering is fun and rewarding.  While we encourage bringing staff, co-workers and family members, please note that all volunteers with the exception of Set-Up, Tear Down, Data Entry, Patient Registration, Volunteer Registration and Hospitality, must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the event to volunteer at the Mission of Mercy.  For those volunteer postions listed, the minimum age is 16.  There are no exceptions to these minimum age limits.

Each and every volunteer must register individually in advance.

The system works best when each volunteer uses a unique email address.  If multiple volunteers are using the same email address, please be sure that everyone volunteering receives all of the information sent out via email.  We will NOT be hard copy mailing anything so be sure that you enter your email address correctly.
You will select where you want to work as part of the registration process.  These preferences cannot be guaranteed but will be followed as closely as possible. You will be notified if your job changes. The main reason we would switch you from your preferred job is if you are a general practitioner who signed up for a specialist slot and we have a specialist to fill the slot.

While preferences are not guaranteed, the shift times are - so please plan to be there for each shift you select.  Please notify us if your plans change so we can offer the slot to another volunteer.

Some jobs require a significant amount of standing and walking, others are more sedentary.  Please choose a position you would feel comfortable doing for at least 4-5 hours at a time.  You may take breaks as needed.

Each shift has a maximum number of spaces.  Shifts will fill on a first-come, first-served basis.  If you are a general practitioner, we ask that you leave the specialty slots for the specialists as they are not able to work outside of their specialty.  If there are surgical or pediatric slots available closer to the event, we will put out a call to existing general practitioner volunteers to see if they want to work in either of those two departments.

The days are broken up into shifts.  You may sign up for as many shifts as you would like.  If you are willing to work all day, please sign up for the morning and afternoon shifts.  If you are working all day you will notice that there is a half hour layover, this is to allow for training of the incoming shift.

Once a shift is filled, it is closed.  The sooner you register, the more choices for shift times and assignments you will have.

The clinic closes at 5 p.m. on Fri and Sat.  We do our best to plan that we will be done seeing the last of the patients by 5 p.m. but just in case we go slightly over, and to allow for cleaning up of your area, we schedule the shifts until 5:30.  Every attempt will be made to get you out earlier but please plan to stay until 5:30 so we can take care of all the patients for the day.  Thank you for your understanding.

Please keep in mind that MOM is a charitable event so we ask that you help us avoid unnecessary expenses by signing up only for the meals you know you will attend.  As much of our food is donated it is difficult for us to accommodate food allergies.  Please plan accordingly.

All information regarding your registration (confirmation, shift summary, password and other information) will be emailed to the address provided once your registration is submitted. If you don't receive a confirmation within an hour, please check your spam folder.  If you still cannot locate the confirmation email please contact as there is a strong likelihood that your registration did not go through.

Please check the  WDA Foundation's page of for ongoing updated information.  If you need help registering or have specific questions, please send an email to or call Carol Shoemaker at 414.755.4188.

Again, thank you for volunteering!
