Peter Read Miller’s Sports Photography Workshop
Atlanta, GA October 15-21, 2012
After ten years of successful Sports Photography Workshops in Denver, Colorado I have decided to come east to Atlanta, Georgia and present a fall workshop running from the evening of Monday October 15 to Sunday afternoon October 21.
Due to the unique opportunity to shoot a major college football game the workshop will be limited to strictly 20 students. While the schedule is still being finalized, sports that the students may shoot include baseball, volleyball, tennis, equestrian, polo, youth and high school football and as a concluding event-a major college football game on Saturday October 20 at a college in the Atlanta area.
In addition to action photography, the workshop covers portrait lighting with strobes, both in the studio and on location, arena lighting and the set-up and use of remote cameras. Student work is reviewed and critiqued every morning and each student receives a one on one portfolio review with Peter.
Additional instructors and speakers include:
-Steve Fine-New York, NY. Director of Photography, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.
-Syl Arena-Paso Robles, CA. Advertising, editorial photographer and speedlight guru. Lecturer and author of "Speedlighters Handbook".
-Max Morse-San Francisco based photographer/videographer. Max’s clients include Reuters, Getty Images, Edelman Public Relations and SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.
-Shawn Cullen-San Diego, CA. SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Lighting Technician. San Diego based veteran of 11 years of lighting work for SI and many other top shooters.
Students will have access to the latest cameras and lenses from Canon as well as lighting gear from Dynalite. In addition we will have a pool of gear for setting up remotes and triggering options including Pocket Wizards.
Past students have gone on the shoot for major newspapers and agencies (Getty Images, US Presswire, the Associated Press) and become NFL team photographers. Many have had their work published in national publications including SI, ESPN The Magazine and The Sporting News. A student in the 2010 workshop had a photo he shot during the workshop run in the “Leading Off” section of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.
Tuition for the six-day workshop is $1,495.00. This includes all instruction, a one on one portfolio review with Peter and all model and location fees. The students will be responsible for air and ground transportation as well as hotel accommodations. The workshop will attempt offer a negotiated room rate at a hotel in the area.
