This Masterclass will be delivered by Dr Khalid Karim, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Sarah Baines, Specialist Nurse for ASD

This Masterclass will explore self-harm and self-injury in autistic individuals.

Learning objectives

- To explore what is meant by the terms self-harm and self-injury
- Examine the underlying reasons why these behaviours may be occurring
- Reflect on how these actions can affect those working and living with these people
- Look at strategies which may be useful in helping with self-harming and self-injury
- Thinking about what other resources may be available

The content of the session will be applicable to those working with autistic children or adults.

    Cancellation refund policy: If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you providing that cancellation is received within 14 days of concluding this contract. If, after this cancellation period has expired, you find you are not able to attend, we regret that we are not able to refund any of your fees paid. However, we will credit you with that sum which you may use as part (or full, if appropriate) payment for another NAS course or conference within 12 months of the original event. Substitutions can be made without charge up to 3 days prior to the event.

    The NAS reserves the right to cancel events due to events outside its control (e.g. weather, illness of a speaker). Every effort will be made to give delegates as much notice as possible, although this may not always be possible in some circumstances. It is advisable not to make any travel arrangements until shortly before the event takes place.
