 The course adheres to guidelines set forth by the Project Management Institute (PMI®), and is ideal for teams or individuals involved in management or manufacturing activities. The course can also benefit those looking to hone or augment their skillset or increase their professional marketability.

Audience:  This course is designed for project managers, team members, and individuals who are preparing to sit for their PMP® certification exam. Completion of this course, in conjunction with additional outside reading and studying, satisfies the 35 contact hours for project management education that allows eligible candidates to sit for the PMP® exam.

Prior to enrolling in this course, students should have an understanding of project management, process management, project management knowledge areas, and process groups, as this course will provide a high-level overview of these concepts. The PMP® certification is for individuals who have significant experience in leading or directing projects and who meet the minimum three-years of project management experience with a bachelor's degree, or minimum five-years of project management experience with a high school diploma or global equivalent.

Course Description:   This course wcourse will assist students in preparation for the Project Management Professional (PMP®) exam. Students will learn the terminology, tools, and techniques that are required to take a project from the initiating process to planning, executing, controlling, and closing. In addition to providing students with an overview of key concepts from PMI®’s A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, Fifth Edition (PMBOK), this course is designed to build confidence and raise the students' chances of passing the PMP® Exam.  

Course Objectives:  

  • Identify the relationships between the Project Management Institute's (PMI®) project management framework, five process groups, and nine bodies of knowledge
  • Apply project initiation tools and techniques in order to develop a project charter
  • Develop a flexible and practical project management plan covering the major project lifecycle processes and phases
  • Determine the best practice tools, techniques, and processes to plan for quality, human resources, communication, risk, and procurement
  • Explain project execution’s relationship to integration management, the factors that contribute to success, and the tools and techniques used
  • Apply monitoring and control techniques to measure progress on the project and forecast project completion requirements
  • Administer the processes for closing a project and completing project procurement
  • Apply the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct to specific situations
  • Perform the preparation techniques, including identifying knowledge gaps, in order to significantly improve your chances of passing the PMP® certification exam
