2026 Mesa Electric Shade Tree Program

Thank you for your interest in the Mesa Electric Shade Tree Workshop. We are excited to offer this program as part of our Trees Are Cool Initiative. Please carefully read all the information below before registering.

By attending our Shade Tree workshop, you will qualify to receive up to two (2) free 5-gallon trees (approx. 3-5’ tall) to plant at your home. Preview the six types of trees available.

Electric Shade Tree Program Details:
  • Participants of this program must be Mesa Electric Customers. 
  • The workshop will be held in person on February 21st at the Charles K. Luster building at 10:00 am. Participants must stay for the entire workshop.
  • The workshop starts promptly at 10:00 AM and lasts about 90 minutes.
  • Participants of the workshop will need to pick up their tree(s) on February 28th, at the Charles K. Luster building parking lot between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. More information about how to pick up your tree(s) will be provided at the workshop.
  • Participants must plant their tree(s) on the South or West side of their home.
  • Participants must plant at least 20 feet away from any overhead utility lines.
  • Participants will be able to choose one OR two of the six tree varieties available.
  • The workshop will cover a range of topics, including how to select, plant, and care for trees. Experts will be on-site to answer your questions.
  • An email is required to register and attend the workshop. If you do not have access to an email, please contact Trees Matter at mesashadetrees@treesmatter.org or call (480) 935-9988.
  • You will receive a confirmation email from Trees Matter through rsvpBOOK. Please double-check your spam and junk folders if you do not see it. If you haven't received the email 24 hours before the workshop, please contact us at mesashadetrees@treesmatter.org.
  • Trees Matter will contact you via email or phone if there is an issue with your registration.
  • Within one week of completing the workshop, you will receive a follow-up email with a Tree Order Form, where you will select your tree choice(s).
  • Note that by registering below, you are submitting this information to Trees Matter, a local nonprofit organization working with the City of Mesa to deliver this program, and to rsvpBOOK LLC, which is Trees Matter's online event service provider.

Program Eligibility Requirements

  • By submitting this registration, you agree that you meet the eligibility requirements listed below.
  • * I am a Mesa Electric customer
  • * I own the home or have the legal right to plant a tree on the property referenced below. If I am a renter, I have obtained consent from my landlord
  • * I can attend the Mesa Electric Shade Tree Workshop on Saturday, February 21st, 2026.
  • * I will call 811 to mark utilities within 2 weeks of event 
  • * I can pick up my tree or arrange for someone else to pick up my tree on Saturday, February 28th, 2026.
  • * I agree to plant on the South or West side of my home
  • * I agree to plant at least 20 feet away from any overhead utilities
  • * I understand I am responsible for the transportation, planting, and maintenance of the tree received in this program
  • * I understand Trees Matter may contact me regarding the health and growth of my tree
  • * I agree to hold harmless and release City of Mesa, Trees Matter, and their respective employees and contractors from any and all liability, claims, damages, fines, and losses arising out of or relating to my participation in the Mesa Shade Tree Program, including but not limited to the receipt, transport, planting, and maintenance of these trees.
