"Are We There Yet? Navigating Yourself and Others through Change and Transition" with Evan Abbott
Intended audience: All
“The only thing constant is change.”  The phrase is so familiar it has almost become trite.  Trite or true, navigating the continual changes in today’s workplace can be difficult for anyone.  Employers in both the public and private sectors are being called on to do more with less with changing demographics, budgets, and expectations.  So how can you manage these changes in a way that allows you and others to transition from “old” to “new?”  This interactive session will explore the difference between change and transition, common challenges that accompany change, as well as tips for managing both yourself and others through the difficult waters of transitions.

"Communication Is A 2-Way Street"
with Christie Ward and Erin Williams
Intended audience: All
Effective Communication for the professional in 2013. Communication has changed our world dramatically!  And much of that has happened in the last 10 years, with the advent of smart phones and connectivity that allow us to see events around the globe as they unfold.  It has spawned revolutions as cultures are able to see other systems and people have access to information that they were denied until recently.  Gain an understanding of our new responsibilities in the workplace to be clear about our intentions.  People simply don’t have time to spend hours in conversation, so communication needs to be more direct and clearer than ever before.  Learn a formula for perception checking so you are not swayed by assumption or interpretation of facts, but rather check to make sure what you see and hear is what the other person intended.  Refresh yourself on what assertive behavior looks like, and how to eliminate passive aggressive behavior that may sabotage you. This session will look at several aspects of communication through the lens of the world of 2013, where change is constant and resources are stretched!  Come get some tools that will make your life easier, both professionally and personally!

In this fun, interactive workshop,  participants will come to see the bird’s eye view of  how well they are balancing their lives, both the personal and professional, and will then find out how to have more choice all the way around.  And more choice leads to more personal power and fulfillment.

"What Do You Say to a One-Armed Lady?" with Cindy Charlton
Intended audience: All
What do you say to a one armed lady, or to a person who uses a wheelchair, or to the parents of a child with disabilities? Have you ever been in a situation when you find yourself saying “see you later,” to a person who is visually impaired, or “can I give you a hand,” to a one armed lady? People with disabilities are people you deal with on a daily basis. They are your clients, your customers, your employees, and your employers.  When we find ourselves dealing with people with disabilities, we often find ourselves in an awkward position simply because we aren’t sure what to say or how to act without fear of being offensive. This training is designed to put you at ease, and to allow you to be yourself. As a person with disabilities, I can assure you that the more uncomfortable you are around me, the more uncomfortable I am around you. So in this training be prepared to laugh, and even shed a tear or two.  Be prepared to learn how to act and what to say to a person with disabilities. Some people call this Disability Etiquette, I simply call it … ”What Do You Say to a One Armed Lady?”
