Color mixing may be a joyful process or a frustrating one, depending on each artist’s
awareness. This workshop will delve deeply into the ancient language of color and explore new ways to mix watercolors with ease and delight. We will work both systematically and intuitively, creating a beautiful color wheel and a series of studies for future reference. Our focus will be summer’s palette, as we observe and mix the colors of leaves, flowers, berries, lichen, and fungi. You will receive clear in-depth instruction on watercolor technologies, color interaction, how color creates mood, what colors you are drawn to, and how to use this knowledge to empower your painting vision. Our studies will be applicable to watercolor, acrylic, gouache, oil,
ink, and will especially helpful in Andie’s second workshop, “Field Studies: Forest Flora & The Artist’s Book.”
